Our work to lift literacy levels would not be possible without the generosity of our volunteers, who give their time and expertise. While we are not looking for volunteers in remote communities, we regularly post here who we’d like to help us run the charity.

Marketing Assistant (Sydney office) 

We are seeking a reliable Marketing Assistant volunteer to work one day a week in our Sydney office. This position requires an organised person with excellent communication, proficient in Mac, and holds the ability to work independently to deadlines. The role includes supporting the Marketing Manager in the administration of fundraising and events, communications and campaigns.

Byron Writers Festival Volunteers (3-5 August)

We are the Charity of Choice for Byron Writers Festival, and are seeking reliable, friendly and energetic volunteers to represent our Foundation. The role requires you to be an excellent communicator, and confident in approaching festival patrons to collect donations. 

Tasks include helping set up and pack down the ILF information tent, distributing flyers, responding to basic queries about the Foundation and collecting donations. You will receive a full briefing about the Foundation including a list of FAQs, and have a chance to experience some of the fantastic festival program.

The festival runs from Friday 3 August - Sunday 5 of August at the ELEMENTS OF BYRON. You may choose to volunteer all three days or less. Shifts are 8:30am - 1:00pm and/or 12:30pm - 5:00pm.

Event Volunteers (national)

From time to time, we have fundraising events where we require volunteer support to represent the ILF, help set up and pack down an event, collect donations and manage the information and bookstand. Email the following details if you would like to be on call for these opportunities:
