One more sleep to Indigenous Literacy Day 2015!

One more sleep to Indigenous Literacy Day 2015!

Here in the ILF Sydney office we're very excited. On Sunday evening, four students from Milikapiti School in the Tiwi Islands arrived in the big smoke for the very first time. They can't wait to launch No Way Yirrikipayi!

The book – about an extremely ravenous crocodile in the Top End – was co-written with their classmates, under the expert guidance of our Lifelong Ambassador and popular children's author Alison Lester.

This morning, on this beautiful first day of spring, Alison and the girls were habourside at the Sydney Opera House, rehearsing for tomorrow's big event and conducting interviews with the Sydney Morning Herald and ABC TV 24.

They'll be sharing the stage with our newest ambassador, Jessica Mauboy (Bran Nue Dae) and other ambassadors Justine Clarke (of Playschool fame), Ursula Yovich (Redfern Now) and opera singer Deborah Cheetham.
