We would like to welcome our current Youth Ambassadors!
A Youth Ambassador is a primary, high school or tertiary education student who values the work of the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF) and is actively involved with promoting ILF’s events and campaigns.
Lachie has been volunteering for the ILF for several years and we are so grateful for his wonderful support with events.
Lachie is a university student living on Boonwurrung Country and is ILF's Youth Ambassador Mentor.
He loves going outdoors to the many wonderful National Parks in Victoria, especially his favourite bushwalking spot at Wilson’s Promontory. Lachie also loves reading, especially books by Australian authors, which has sparked his interest in volunteering for the ILF.
Penelope is a proud Wiradjuri and Palawa kid and is our youngest-ever Youth Ambassador. Penny loves reading books and telling stories.
“My people are really gabun [great storytellers]. We’ve been telling stories for thousands of generations,” says Penelope.
Josh is a Commerce and Law student at the University of New South Wales living on Gadigal land. He is passionate about driving social change to foster the growth of Indigenous peoples’ education.
Sidney is a high school student living on the border of Wiradjuri, Dharug and Gundungurra Countries.
Sidney has always loved books and since being given the opportunity to work with the ILF in 2018 when he was 11 years old, he has been motivated to help spread the power of storytelling. Sidney’s happiest moments are spent in the bush with friends.
