Great opportunities bound when you host a Great Book Swap

The Great Book Swap is a fun and fantastic event to put into your school calendar this year. Your school can raise awareness for social justice and inequalities and fundraise for our literacy programs operating in more than 280 remote communities across the country.

Natalie Christofidellis from Uniting West Bexley Preschool held a Great Book Swap last year.

“It was a great opportunity to discuss equity in access to resources and looking at how we can [help] Close The Gap. It was important for children and families to understand that it is everyone's responsibility to increase educational opportunities for children living in remote communities.”

To celebrate the UNESCO International Year of Indigenous Languages, we've added a new component to our program to allow fun classroom learning. When you register, you will randomly be assigned to a House - named after an animal in language that features in one of our community literacy projects. We'll send you a kit in the mail plus you will receive access to a stack of online resources to help support your event. So, in 2019, it's the perfect time to host a Great Book Swap and learn more about our First Nation peoples' culture and language!

This year we hope to engage 35,000 students across Australia to help us raise $350,000 to gift 35,000 new books for remote indigenous communities.

Swap your favourite book in exchange for another, for a gold coin donation.
