Did you catch the big game!? We were selected by Deadly captain Eddie Betts as the Charity of Choice for the AFLX competition!
Earlier this month, we were thrilled to join Eddie for the draft alongside two students from Tiwi College – Jessica Stassi and Freda Puruntatameri – who have been involved with our Create Initiative and have a huge love of AFL!
Our Chair Patricia Genat was delighted to join Eddie on the field - here she is getting into the zone!
Despite not walking away with the trophy, an incredible and very generous donation of $5,000 will be made to our Foundation to help support our core programs operating in more than 280 remote communities throughout Australia.
“We’re so grateful to be chosen by Eddie as the Deadly's Charity of Choice. As a passionate supporter and advocate of Indigenous Literacy himself, this has been a wonderful opportunity to share the work of the Indigenous Literacy Foundation with the AFLX supporters. The prize money received will allow us to provide more great books into the homes and hands of Indigenous children living in some of the remotest parts of the country” says Tina Raye, Program Manager.
The biggest thanks goes to Deadly Captain Eddie Betts for choosing our Foundation to support, and his all-star, all-Indigenous team. Thank you also to the AFL for allowing us to share our Foundation with your supporters, and for your generous hospitality.
