A REAL CELEBRATION

A REAL CELEBRATION

Four young students from Milikapiti School stole the show on national Indigenous Literacy Day at the Sydney Opera House yesterday. Supported by their Principal Suzanne Brogan, the girls read their story about a hungry crocodile, No Way Yirrikipayi, to an audience of over 30 Sydney schools and guests. The program included a formidable line up of talent including Jessica Mauboy, Ursula Yovich, Deborah Cheetham AO, Justine Clarke, William Barton and Alison Lester, who all spoke and sang from the heart to support literacy in remote Australia.

MC Natalie Ahmat announced a new sponsor,  Mitsubishi Australia Ltd, had donated nearly $50,000 to deliver 7,000+ books to children in remote communities across Australia.

Photography at the event was kindly sponsored by a long-standing supporter, Prudence Upton Photography.
