Over 200 school children will engage in literacy workshops run by four ILF Ambassadors early next month.
Students from three schools, Milikapiti, Pularumpi & Tiwi College, will meet and work with Alison Lester former Australian Children's Laureate, David Lawrence author of Fox Swift, Dub Leffler author and illustrator of Once there was a Boy, and Samuel Wagan Watson award-winning Indigenous poet and author of Smoke Encrypted Whispers.
ILF Board members including Chair Juliet Rogers, Founder Suzy Wilson, and Nick Bowditch will also be participating. They will be joined by James Kellow, CEO HarperCollins, and Patricia Genat, President of the Australian Booksellers Association.
"The school is honoured to have such visitors. We often have visits from elite athletes, ALF Players and other sports stars. But these authors are the equivalent in their field, the elite of writing children’s stories,” said Ian Smith, Principal Tiwi College after our last Ambassador Trip to the Tiwi Islands.
