Fundraising and events

With your help we can make a difference for Indigenous children in remote Australia.

Fundraisers are an invaluable part of our organisation, as they help us fund our programs and build awareness of Indigenous literacy issues.

These individuals, groups and businesses take on the challenge of running their own fundraiser. Whether you are hosting a large occasion, competing in a sporting event, donating a percentage of sales, or auctioning goods, you are providing essential support to our Foundation.

You can organise your own fundraising event by simply registering on Everyday Hero or Gofundraise. These two sites make it easy to hold a fundraiser, and share to it with your friends and family however you choose - by email, Twitter or Facebook.. If you choose to raise some money for ILF, donations can be made through your profile, and are directed on to our Foundation. It is completely hassle free fundraising! Simply visit Everyday Hero or Gofundraise and set up a profile.

Do you have a fundraising idea?

If you have a more involved fundraising idea, such as a large event or donating a percentage of sales, please download and complete our Community Fundraising Form.

Here are some simple suggestions on how you can help our Foundation.

  • Hold a Great Book Swap or secondhand book sale
  • Tell your workplace about us and get us nominated on your charity list for workplace giving
  • Participate in marathons, races, charity drives
  • Organise a charity auction
  • Hold a morning tea with friends, at your workplace or with your bookclub
  • Hold a bake sale
  • Hold a dinner party for your friends, inviting them to donate amount they would usually spend on dinner out to our Foundation

  • Making a donation is simple! After your event, send a cheque or deposit your fundraising amount into our account. Be sure to email the Foundation: and tell us how much you raised.
  • Our Foundation will issue you with a receipt for funds raised.
  • Please note that all monies should be paid to ILF within 14 days of receipt.

In addition to our two core campaigns this year - Indigenous Literacy Day and The Great Book Swap - the ILF has many smaller but just as important events that raise funds and awareness for Indigenous Literacy on our calendar.
