Book supply and delivery

The core aim of The Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF) is to deliver books and literacy resources to remote Indigenous communities. From 2009-2012 ILF delivered over 80,000 books to more than 230 remote communities.

Book selection for remote communities is enhanced by a working committee which in 2011 included: Robyn Huppert (ABA), Lynndy Bennett (Specialist Children's Buyer/Gleebooks), Kaye Richards (Laguna Bay Publishing).

ILF’s book supply is managed by Debra Dank, our Indigenous Program Manager. Debra contacts or visits remote communities with a list of culturally appropriate books and literacy resources. Schools and community centres are invited to order books from this list. Though donations play a huge part in our ability to supply books and literacy resources, ILF is also aided by the generosity of The Australian Book Industry, and the volunteer commitment of writers, booksellers and publishers. Thousands of books are supplied (and delivered to communities) by publishers at cost. This doubles or triples the buying power of every dollar raised.
