The Indigenous Literacy Foundation held a successful auction of original and limited
edition artwork by indigenous and non-indigenous artists from remote and urban communities
at the Wheeler Centre on 9 September 2011.
The Art for Country Auction was an elegant evening at the Wheeler centre in
Melbourne. Many gathered for a night of art, canapés and bidding. With William
McInnes as MC, the occasion was entertaining, relaxed and, for anybody who was
there to bid and buy, very successful. The artworks included illustrations and
paintings by Australian artists and colourful prints by children from remote
communities and a certain infamous crocodile. A total of $19,000 was raised.
